Holiday Inn Express & Suites Spartanburg-North, an IHG Hotel

ETA: *After being charged the entire cost, this hotel placed ANOTHER charge on my account for the same cost which caused multiple issues with my bank and other bills. I called but the manager was supposedly unavailable. I left a message and continued calling back to no avail. I was hanged up on repeatedly and placed on hold for long periods of time. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. **Location: It's the south so we all know what to expect. I was born and raised in the area, and was appalled to see the humongous confederate flag that had been resurrected with a spotlight. Any POC would do well to find a better place to stay. We stayed for three nights. The tub was stained tan/brown and the shower curtain had some odd stain on it. The water pressure for the shower was worse than army showers in basic training and the water temperature was even worse - it was cold all the time! There was an odd smell when we got to the room which prompted us to by air fresheners for the room. The only good thing to eat at breakfast was the gravy biscuits. The juice was watered down so much that my children thought it was water. The staff serving breakfast was extremely friendly. The parking lot was clean and check-in/out was simple. We had an issue where housekeeping did not bring us fresh towels or more toilet paper, but the front desk gave us some after waiting for quite some time for housekeeping to do it. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were a bit soft (even the firm ones). The pull out sofa did not have linen, but the front desk easily provided that to us. Two of the USB electrical outlets were damaged and unusable. Thankfully, I had prepared for the worse and it wasn't an issue for us. I was really hoping for a better experience while traveling to bury a family member. Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again if I had to return to the area.

Friendly staff, competitive prices, clean rooms, working pool, and gym. The morning buffet was similar but better than most of the hotels I've stayed at. It's nothing to get crazy about, but it tasted great, was clean, offered a variety of options, and it was evident that the staff cared about providing food people enjoyed. If I'm ever in the area and need a hotel again, I would happily reserve another room from them. *I did not receive any compensation for this review.

I have been staying at this hotel for years when I came to my hometown. What a different a year makes the property has no management support. I was woken up to 40 grown kids outside my door who agonized me to the point of calling the authorities. That shouldn't had been let in the hotel till each person secured a room. I thought for sure my own safety would not be jeprodized and security of knowing who was out side my hotel door.was not handled properly and I will gladly take my business else where very poor place to stay and the employees are great but management is bad bad bad!! I feel as tho this wouldn't be the place to stay for me ever again. Sure I won't be the only business they lose for reasons like this thanks but no thanks for the 30 dollar gift card. I spent 600 dollars there for 2 days. Just Saying don't stay here very unsafe and not managed well at all. I pay for security and it's not a secure place period!!! So book if you I do not recommend anyone could be allowed at your door!! Not a safe place!!!

The front desk was quite busy upon check in, but the desk clerk did a good job. The room smelled very moldy and many of the electrical outlets did not work. The room had a seriously old school window unit, instead of a wall thermostat, and none of the buttons worked (it stayed on its own setting, would not turn off, change temp, etc.) The amenities around the immediate area aren't that good, but it is close to the highway for easy access to the bigger town of Greenville. I have stayed at nicer IHG Holiday Inn Express, and this location didn't really meet my expectations.
